Home Nan's I Care Blog Reflections

Yesterday I had a beautiful walk along the river when the light was just right,
the river was beautiful and
there were puzzle quality reflections.
(I love the way the heron above looked like a fat stick in the water!)
It got me reflecting... (well, not in the same way, but reflecting none the less.)

I recently felt hopeless. Yes, it's true. Everything was just too hard and too big etc. At the same time I was meditating on Lamentations 3. Jeremiah was one hopeless guy. His description of hopelessness is priceless and pathetic. You should read it! His conclusion is:
So I say, "My strength has perished, And so has my hope from the LORD." Lamentations 3:18
Hopeless! Very real, very sad! Uh huh, that was me.

Then something changed! He reflected. (Fixed his thoughts on something; carefully considered.) This is how He says it:
"This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope.
The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
"The LORD is my portion," says my soul,
"Therefore I have hope in Him."
Lamentations 3:21-24

Hope!

Reflecting on the Lord's character changed everything! He found hope in God.
Today I'm going to keep the Lord before me and reflect on who He is rather than on my stuff.
Want to join me? That's a beautiful reflection! So, what thrills you about the Lord today?

This is what I have been appreciating about the Lord this morning as I review my Bible Club lesson on Joseph: He knows my future. He has a plan for my life. Even when I have no idea how something good could come from the circumstances I find myself in, He knows, and He is working to bring about that good. And that gives me hope for the future.

Wonderful Anne! Thanks for sharing that! My two favorite "he knows" verses are:

He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him. Dan 2:22 (We talked about that didn't we?)

"But He knows the way I take; When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold." Job 23:10

Love you!
