Home Nan's I Care Blog The Song

Windy_Day

I love poetry and today I was thinking about this line...
"faint not, fight on! Tomorrow comes the song."
(from Be strong by Maltbie D. Babcock)

The only problem is that I want the song in the middle of the storm, not tomorrow.
Is that too much to ask? Too hard? No! I know God gives a song.

Recently the winds were blowing during which I kept crying out to God to help me.
(When mom is weak, she will say to me in this helpless voice, "please, help me."
What can I do but run to her aid!)
That is what I do in the midst of my struggles.
I call out in my weak little helpless voice "please, help me".
That day within a few hours, God helped me. God totally gave me a song.
A direct answer to my prayer.

Today I read this poem. This is what I'm talking about!

Before the winds that blow do cease,
Teach me to dwell within Thy calm:
Before the pain has passed in peace,
Give me, my God, to sing a psalm.
Let me not lose the chance to prove
The fullness of enabling love.
O Love of God, do this for me:
Maintain a constant victory.

Before I leave the desert land
For meadows of immortal flowers,
Lead me where streams at Thy command
Flow by the borders of the hours,
That when the thirsty come, I may
Show them the fountains in the way.
O Love of God, do this for me:
Maintain a constant victory.
Amy Carmichael

That's what I'm talking about! And that's what He does! Wonderful!

Yesterday I was reading "How Songs Came" in Rose From Brier. (Are you reading Rose From Brier, too? These thoughts sound awfully familiar.) I liked the last paragraph of the letter: "So the songs came. For by reason of the 'interior sweetness', as Richard Rolle says, 'I was impelled to sing what before I had only said' to Him who hears the least little song of love. Such a song need not look for words, though sometimes the search for the right words can be strangely refreshing. Songs without words are songs to Him." I'm glad our songs don't have to have words. I've been too tired for words to come lately. But I can have a song in my soul, and He faithfully gives me a song each day.
