Home Nan's I Care Blog He Cares

I'm convinced that God takes care of the caregiver. So, let Him!

I'm so busy caring for mom that I don't have time to care for myself. One of the most non helpful comments I get from people is "make sure you take care of yourself." Really?!? (I know it's your way of caring, but it would be better to say a positive encouragement!) Well, the whole thing was stressing me out until I came to a great realization, the Lord takes care of me. He is my Good Shepherd. I can let that one rest with Him. Whew! Relief! I take care of mom and He takes care of me.

I see God's care everywhere and it is absolutely thrilling...

God gave me a husband who told me early on that we are team in this ministry of caring for mom, just like all the previous ministries in our lives. My husband is such an amazing man!

God decided I needed help for three weeks this summer while Craig was gone and sent me Anne Moffitt. This was a total surprise and blessing. I was not alone,
God took care of me.

My sister in law, Terry, is a blessing beyond words.
She is now coming down one night a week and parts of two days to care for mumsy, including doing all mom's laundry.
God is taking care of me.

A couple weeks ago, I was having lots of company and my house was not ready. I really had no idea how I would get ready. Charissa said, "for your birthday, I'd like to clean your house."
It makes me cry just writing this!
That was my good Shepherd caring for me.

Yesterday my friend Judy came over to sit with mom so Craig and I could spend the afternoon together. She gave us a suggestion where to go (we had no energy to figure that out!) and money to do it!
God takes care of us.

Sometimes when I think I really need this or that and He doesn't send it, I know that is God taking care of me then too. He is stretching my faith muscles and teaching me valuable lessons about Himself.
He is Wonderful. Period!

These are just a few examples of God's compassionate care. There are so many.
I wanted to write them down so I don't forget.

God takes care of YOU too! You must open your eyes and see it. It all starts with thankfulness. Be thankful for His hand in your life!

Be not dismayed whate'er betide,
God will take care of you;
beneath his wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.

God will take care of you,
through every day, o'er all the way;
he will take care of you,
God will take care of you.

Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
God will take care of you;
when dangers fierce your path assail,
God will take care of you.

All you may need he will provide,
God will take care of you;
nothing you ask will be denied,
God will take care of you.

No matter what may be the test,
God will take care of you;
lean, weary one, upon his breast,
God will take care of you.

My sweet Nancy, I so identify with your situation and feelings regarding well-meaning comments. God was reminding me yesterday of His care for me. In thanking Him for the day, I could only manage to thank Him that He is in control. I could not thank him for the circumstances. This slow death that mom is experiencing, bit by bit, has torn me up. Yet He shows me the ways He is ministering to me by allowing me to be here and hear and see the impact mom has made in so many people's lives here in her care cottage...for that I am thankful. I fell under the brunt of this time on Sunday night...I had a big meltdown. And God was right there holding me (as my husband). He was patting me on the back (as my mom's fav care giver). He was speaking soothing words into my spirit. He was singing over me (as just the 'right' song was playing on the radio). I pray you will be able to see, hear, feel and taste that the LORD is good, merciful, kind and ever loving. Loving you through this time.

Mary, I thank God for you and the way you have cared for your mom for years! I wish I could hug you right now. I know these days are hard and you aren't far from my thoughts and prayers! I love you my sweet sister. May the Lord keep His arms around you and you know His love in many ways in these days.

This morning I was thrilled with the reminder that He is compassionate! Lovely! I get word on what's going on through our mutual relatives, but if there is a specific I can pray for, let me know please. Love you!

God does take care of us. He gave me uninterrupted sleep last night for the first time in a week. And I hadn't even thought to ask Him for that. So today I have enough strength to go take care of a friend who is in even more physical pain than I am. I'm thankful for that.

I can sympathize Nancy, as my 91 year old mom moved in with us 9 months ago. She has no real physical problems but memory very poor. I have a sign in her room for reminders and it says call me anytime, so a couple of times she has called me at 4 am to ask "where am I, what am I doing here?" Indeed, thank the Lord for his care for us, and keep our sense of humor! Thanks for all you share! Love you, Jennifer Beers

Yes, one needs a sense of humor!!!! While Anne was staying with me (the above Anne) mom called me at 8AM to ask what time it was because she couldn't figure out why she was in her nightgown at 2:30 in the afternoon. We just smile (or laugh) and tell stories and love her. These precious times won't last long. I want to enjoy every minute.
