Moab has been at ease since his youth;
He has also been undisturbed,
like wine on its dregs,
And he has not been emptied from vessel to vessel,
Nor has he gone into exile.
Therefore he retains his flavor,
And his aroma has not changed.
Jeremiah 48:11

Things that are not good...

at ease
undisturbed
not emptied
aroma unchanged

If the above is true, then it would be desirable to be...

not at ease
(OK, I needed to be reminded this is a good thing. This morning I got up at 4 AM so I could get some work done before caring for mom. I'm tired. Ease is appealing, unless I see it through God's eyes!)
disturbed
(Again, who would have thought???!!!  I can't remember my old routine. Life has been turned upside down. One NEEDS to be disturbed? Thanks for the reminder!)
emptied
(Emptied? Really! It's no fun to have nothing left... to be at the end of strength, wisdom, emotions, words etc, etc, etc,)
changed flavor
(Oh this is exciting! God changes our flavor from some bland, average flavor, to the flavor of His choosing. Now that would be delicious!)
Changed aroma
(The aroma of Christ! And it doesn't get better than that!)

I was encouraged by this today and I want to encourage you! If you are
not at ease,
disturbed,
emptied.
Just know this that God is at work to make something better of you. Nice!

"Measure thy life by loss and not by gain,
Not by the wine drunk, but by the wine poured forth.
For love's strength standeth in love's sacrifice,
And he who suffers most has most to give."

I've been thinking about this song because it is one of my mom's favorites...

Emptied that Thou shouldest fill me,
A clean vessel in Thy hand;
With no power but as Thou givest
Graciously with each command.

Jesus, fill now with Thy Spirit
Hearts that full surrender know;
That the streams of living water
From our inner man may flow.

Channels only, blessèd Master,
But with all Thy wondrous power
Flowing through us, Thou canst use us
Every day and every hour.
