Home Nan's I Care Blog Rest

yawn

Are you tired today in your caregiving (or in just plain living life?)
I have the most wonderful pillow for you. I have a place for you to rest!

Recently I was reading Psalm 22 and this phrase jumped off the page... (Jesus speaking)
"O my God, I cry by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but I have no rest..." Psalm 22:2

Jesus had no rest! Read the whole psalm, it's the account of the cross.

I might be exhausted some days and have no rest, but the lovely truth is that I am at great rest because of the Lord Jesus. He choose "no rest" so that He could give life! He went all the way to death on a cross. My rest is in Him. He purchased my salvation. He gives eternal life. If I had to do something to earn my way, I would fail. He has done everything. What rest!

There's a pillow for you and me today! Jesus!

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Belovèd,
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting ’neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth’s dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father’s glory,
Sunshine of my Father’s face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

My dear Nancy: You have a book, all you need is a title. But I especially loved the part "and Thy love so pure, so changeless satisfies my heart." "Pure and changeless, amazing love" My heart is with you.

Thank you my Sue. Yes, amazing love! I love all the words... but I love the part:

O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!

Lavished! I'm praying for you!
